Gamlastan Sweden Gift Shops
One of my closest friends lives in Sweden. I only see him once a year, and we have very little time to catch up on all the things that distance did not let us share. But my favorite part in our meetings are his stories about Stockholm.
I do not know if it is the passion and admiration in his voice, the wonderful details he gives, the fact that I missed him or my childhood obsession to travel abroad and visit as many places as possible, but ever since I first heard him talk about Stockholm, with the first photos I saw, I started wishing I could go there and live everything by myself.
Unfortunately, with the everyday worries, mortgage payments and family obligations, there is no hope for that to happen in the near future, so I thought you could do it for me.
I do not care about the whole town, as my dreams only relate to the The Old Town, Gamla Stan, to the special atmosphere that only a town set up during the 1300 century. I would like to know more about the 3000 people living there, about the 1700 and 1800 century buildings.
I wish I could just take the time to walk about the old town, to admire the king’s castle, to feel a bit of the town’s pulse and cross the threshold of every restaurant, studio, museums and gift shop. I would thus take a taste of the old town life, know a little bit of its history and art by myself.
And this place is so important to me, I have been dreaming about it for so long, that I would probably spend all my money on gifts and souvenirs. You see, I have no doubt this would be such a complete and fulfilling experience that I would want to keep it in my heart forever, I would want to remember every single detail, every color, every shade, and give a little part of it to all the people I love.
That is why, after visiting Gamla Stan, the next best thing on the list would be visiting Gamla Stan gift shops. I even have a list with all shops I would visit. I shared it with my friend and he said I would need at least a week for everything I have in mind, but if I only had the chance, I am sure I could do everything in one day.
I would first go to Gyllene Ängeln and Leksaker Förr och Nu, as there is nothing I like better than toys, I read about their amazing collections of antique dolls and doll-houses, mechanical toys and traditional games, and I am sure my niece and nephew would love them.
Since my husband is crazy about water sports and fishing, I would than have to stop by Fartygsmagasinet i Stockholm, Gremeljen Antikviteter & Samlarföremål or Ragnar Zedell, K & A for a little something to let him know how much he means to me. On this occasion, I might find a great gift for my boss as well, just a way to thank him for letting me take this great vacation. And if the Nautica shops might lack gift ideas when it comes to my boss, the pottery at Antiques of the future, Skattgömman and Trångsundsboden will definitely do it.
I would also visit Kurt Svenssons Konsthandel, Kreuter Konst & Antikhandel, Himiko Oriental Gallery, Jacksons 20th Century Design and Rilton Gallery, – Antikt och Konst to take a piece of Gamla Stan home, as a memory of an extraordinary experience.
