Carolina Moon Gift Shop In Outer Banks

Let’s continue our journey through the small but nice gift shops from the United States of America, and today we’ll visit one situated in the Outer Banks region. The Outer Banks is long string of narrow barrier islands which are located off the coast of North Carolina, and which are stretching for 200 miles (320 km). They are beginning from the southeastern corner of Virginia Beach and they are covering almost half of the northern part of the North Carolina coastline. This region is a major tourist attraction, and it is famous for its temperate climate and its beautiful beaches.

In the image above you can see a view of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse from the beach, a lighthouse located on the Haterras Island. The islands which are composing the Outer Banks are: from north to south, Bodie Island, Roanoke Island, Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island. Another famous beach is the Carova Beach, which is accessible just for four wheel drive vehicles.

The weather conditions on the Hatteras Island are not so good, and this island is very prone to hurricanes. And one of the bad things that can happen during a storm or a hurricane are the beach erosions. Actually in 2003 a large part of the island was simply washed away by the Hurricane Isabel. But luckily it was repaired by sand dredging made by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Since there are so many beautiful things to be seen here in this area, and a lot of tourists, there had to be some gift shops too.
