In the previous article we discussed about West Palm Beach which was quite a large city of the United States of America, but for now we’ll visit a much smaller one – Davidsville. It is not even a city, it is a CDP (census designated place) located in the Somerset County, in the state of Pennsylvania. Some cities located close to it are: Jerome, Thomas Mills, Tire Hill, Seanor, Holsopple and others. The area code for Davidsville in 814 while the zip code is 15928.

As we said it is quite a small place with a total area of 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²) and  a population of just 1,119 people. It has 441 households and 355 families with a density of 489 people per square mile. There are not so many things to be said about this place, but what interests us for today is the Forget Me Not Floral and Gift shop, Davidsville. This store is found at this address: 110 N. The shop has been founded, and it is owned by Kathy Baer and Kim McQuaide, which are both experts in floral design and arrangements. They have always dreamed of opening their own floral shop and they have managed to do this in 2008 when the shop was ready. Even though the opening of this shop required a lot of hard work and dedication, they were really pleased when it was ready and it worth every moment of the work. The store has 2 floors of showroom space so it offers plenty of space for the customer’s browsing pleasure. It is opened Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, while on Wednesday and Thursday it is opened from 9 am to 8 pm. And it is also opened on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm and closed on Sunday.

It offers to the residents of Davidsville and to visitors that are passing by all sorts of interesting items and gifts. The only category that seems to offer a little more information is the “Baby items”. Here you can find different kinds of floral arrangements for babies, and you can also see the prices and a small information. There are both arrangements for baby boys and baby girls, and the prices are varying from 39.99 dollars to 59.99 dollars. To find more information about all the other products of the shop, you will probably have to visit the real store, or at least call them.

Our journey across the United States of America takes us today in the sunny and warm city of West Palm Beach, which is located in the state of Florida. It is also the largest and most populous city in the Palm Beach County and has a population of 134,795 residents and a total area of 58 square miles (150.7 km²).  Besides this it is also the oldest incorporated city in South Florida and it was incorporated in 1894.

It is a wonderful city, which besides the beautiful and sunny beaches it has many other  major tourist attractions. Some examples would be : Central Park, El Cid, Flamingo Park, Grandview Heights, Mango Promenade, Northboro Park, Old Northwood Historic District, West Northwood Historic District, Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Norton Museum of Art, The Carefree Theatre, The Meyer Amphitheatre, the Palm Beach County Convention Center and others. There are also some important festivals and shows here, such as: the SunFest, the Palm Beach International Film Festival, the National Horse Show, the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction and many more. So there are thousands of visitors coming here each  year, and since there are tourists there are also gift shops.

The Merlin Entertainments London Eye, commonly known as the London Eye or Millenium Wheel, is an very large passenger carrying Ferris wheel situated in Central London in the Great Britain. Our journey through the gift shops from the United States of America takes us today in the state of Oregon, in the Washington County and into the Sherwood city. This is quite a small city located in the southeast corner of the county. It has a population of around 16,000 residents and a total area of 4.1 square miles (10.5 km²). The city was incorporated in 1893, and before that had the name “Smockville”, after the names of James Cristopher and Mary Ellen Smock. So the city has quite a good history, meaning that you can still find today here a lot of historical buildings and museums.

So of course there are also some gift shops here, and one of them is called the Sleighbells gift shop. The real store is opened Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, while the online store (found at www.sleighbells.biz) is opened all the time. This shop has quite a long history, and it was started in 1985. Its building wasn’t even originally made as  a gift shop, but as a home for special needs children. As it became a  gift shop it was much smaller than it is today, and it was additionally completed in 1991. The founding owners (Tom and Betty) decided to close the store in 1999, but luckily it was bought by another family (Ken and Darleen McCoy) and they carried on the tradition and wonderful experience that the clients have here at Sleighbells gift shop. In the last 5 years the store really developed and improved and now it is a really famous attraction of this area.

But enough with the history, let’s discuss about what this store has to offer. It is the largest year round Christmas store from the Northwest of the United States and also a big Christmas tree farm. So it offers all sorts of gifts and decoration items for Christmas, but also for other holidays such as Halloween, Easter and others. They have over 7000 square feet of display space, with thousands of products from hundreds of different producers. So far we usually visited just small cities of the United States of America, but now it’s time to visit a bigger and more famous one, which is Atlanta. It is the capital and also the most populous city in the state of Georgia. Besides this it is also the 33^rd largest city from the entire country. Its population is around 537,958  while its total area is 132.4 square miles (343 km²). The first settlement in this area was recorded in 1837, and at that time the place had the name “Terminus”. A few years later in 1843 it changed the name into Marthasville, and finally in 1847 it got the name Atlanta which was kept until today. This area has a humid subtropical climate with hot and humid summer and mild and occasionally cold winters.

Atlanta is considered a top business city and also a major transportation hub. Here you can find the headquarters of major multinational corporations such as: Coca Cola, AT&T Mobility, Delta Air Lines and others. Actually Atlanta has the 4^th largest concentration of companies found in the Fortune 500 top, from the entire United States of America. The city has just one major airport, but this is actually the busiest airport in the world. It is the Hartsfield – Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Since it is such a large city of course it has all the facilities and buildings that you might possibly need, such as: high schools, universities, museums, churches, restaurants, night clubs and so on. There are all sorts of museums here in Atlanta, and also many other tourist attractions, so the city is visited by thousands of visitors each year. It is actually the 30^th city in terms of foreign tourists, with around 478,000 visitors per year. But those were just the foreign visitors, and according to Forbes, in 2007 Atlanta attracted about 37 million visitors into the city.
